I used to think I was just plain ole Al. Turns out, according to the Gallup and Rasmussen political polls, that I’m a member of the over 65, caucasian, southern state, swing state, male, retiree, likely voter, white-collar, ex-military, home owner, middle class, heterosexual, married, voting bloc. Not only that, we’re one of the most influential voting blocs out there. Who knew? From Labor Day until the first week of November, every four years, the way I intend to vote makes me one of the most important people in the country. After that, it’s back to being good ole Al, and the only important thing the government wants to know about me is where they need to mail my tax forms.
In spite of all the myriad polls and predictions, this is the voting bloc that will probably decide it:
IIs that not the poison we all should take when the big bomb … has been dropped? *smile haven’t voted for years … and I feel good about. Also I think that 4 years is a very short time for anyone to make a difference and changes, when in crises and bad shape. Plus I don’t believe anything they are promising.
May I recommend you read my 14 immutable laws of politics? http://politicalprisms.wordpress.com/my-immutable-laws-of-politics/
Thanks for link .. already been there – brilliant .. glad I’m where I’m .. even if we have our funny guys in the top too.
Reblogged this on The Laughing Housewife and commented:
Another funny man in the blogosphere: meet Al, the Cvllean (that’s his ‘spelling’, not mine).
Al, I proved the rule that if you criticise someone’s grammar or spelling, it’s going to come back and bite you hard on the butt.
🙂 🙂 🙂
Thanks for the reblog Tilly. We’re in Colorado right now but glad I stopped in to check your blog.
Is there about to be an election or something in your neck of the woods? (hahahaha)
I’m really starting to think maybe we should revolt to go back under British rule. It wasn’t nearly as nasty then as it has become now.
The sad part is that when this whole thing is over, life will go on as usual, our elected leaders will make some of the same mistakes again and add a few new ones, and we’ll repeat this whole process again in four years. Tires me out just to think of it.
Could not agree more !!!
I’n not in your voting block. I am a maligned woman who can’t afford to pay $9 a month for birth control and I want the government to do it for me. Oh that’s right, I’m over that hill.
Heck, even with Medicare and Blue Cross/Blue Shield, I laid out $400 for prescription drugs last month.
Last year the same drugs cost $120 per hit. Do you think Obamacare will save me? Dianne
Sorry, Dianne, the Obamacare death panels have already met and decided that because you are an independent thinking senior citizen, you are no longer a “useful” person and your medications have been suspended. Tough break.
That does it, I’m voting for Paul Ryan. I love him and he’s good to his mother.
And you can be sure he’ll give you a voucher for your medicine.
It’s nice to feel important isn’t it? I have such a conundrum as to how to vote this year, any sage advice you’d like to offer?
I suggest not troubling yourself with all this and just sending me a proxy statement authorizing me to vote in your stead. You know I’ll make the right choice.
Your pal, Al
Not being from the US I’m a bit removed from the elections though I get updates regularly etc. As such I nodded sagely as I read your post, ticking the boxs and generally agreeing that a man with your profile would probably consitute a member of a significant voting block. Then I had to scroll down to see the end of your post. Thats when I nearly fell off my chair. Still a picture is worth a thousand words
I live to serve.
Al, you crack me up! 😀
I’m assuming there is no pun intended in your comment?
Assume away – there is no ass in u and me.
You’ll never be plain ole Al to me, Al, old pal! Enjoy the spot light while it lasts and I hope you are very familiar with the “mute” button on your remote control for all those political ads–either that or you have good reflexes for the fast-forward on shows you DVR-ed. It’s going to be a long 8 weeks…
Way ahead of you, Lorna, my gal pal. I’m the guru of the DVR world. With the exception of the Super Bowl (when the commercials are usually better than the game), nary a commercial shall ever cross my 50″ screen.
well said important voter…I prefer you being just plain ole Al and love you for it
Now how could I possibly argue with that?
Oh how I love that quote. So, damn funny. And yet so true. So, not really that funny.
Oh how I hate that quote.
So make up my mind already!
